I love my job, and I love my office, but we are near several large ponds, and there's critters. Last week our Operations VP told me he got an e-mail from the cleaning crew informing him that they found three live snakes in our building. I said, "Did you explain to the cleaning guy that they prefer to be called 'lawyers'?" (we have a bunch of lawyers).
Yesterday while he was taking a shower after his lunchtime run, our CFO looked down and saw a small snake in the shower stall with him. He kicked it out of the shower stall, finished up, got dressed and came and told me about it. We went back in the locker room and sure enough, there was a little snake coiled up in the corner of the room. As soon as we walked in, it started striking and lunging at us, which, due to its extremely small size, was as cute as it was scary. The CFO managed to capture the baby snake in a plastic container with a lid, and we gave it to the Ops VP, who wasn't glad to see it at all.
There are probably dozens more, lurking in the dark places in our building. Each time I walk down the hall, I am looking around for more snakes. I feel like I am on an Easter egg hunt, except for snakes.
